Every year on the month of October, the City of Bacolod known as the “City Of Smiles”, celebrates Masskara Festival. This festival depicts the life of Negrense’s during the fall of Sugar Industry wherein people made masks to show that in spite of the crisis, they can still manage to smile. From then on, the negrense’s celebrates this festival which later on known as The Masskara Festival.As of now the City is preparing for the upcoming festival to be held next month. Some of the Festivities to be expected are the Mask making Competition, the battle of brain and beauties of the Bacoleñas for the Masskara Queen and it’s highlight the Masskara Street Dance Competition.
During this festivity, the City of Bacolod is visited by local tourist and foreigners. Some are buying handcrafts available anywhere where there is small boutiques and also the famous handcraft and antique shop in the city, “Negros Showroom” located along Lacson St.. This said event has always been the expectation of many Negrenses for it attracts celebrities. I hope to see everyone enjoys and smiles during Masskara!
